CastExpo Draws 7,000 CastExpo吸引了7000观众
Crowded booths, lively technical discussions and well- attended Metalcasting Technology Teater sessions were evidence of a successful CastExpo’13, hosted by the American Foundry Society (AFS) this year at the America’s Center in St. Louis, April 6-9. Te event featured more than 450 exhibitors on a sold-out show floor and various technical presentations as part of its Metalcasting Congress. A total of 7,192 metalcasters attended CastExpo’13. “So much was happening on the show floor and a positive
vibe filled the air,” said Jerry Call, AFS executive vice president. “It’s great to see all of the positive feedback we have already received from CastExpo’13 attendees and exhibitors.” Several exhibitors reported equipment purchase contracts
signed over the four-day event. Technical sessions covering vari- ous metalcasting topics, including molding, melting, engineering, safety, and casting design and purchasing were complemented with sessions in the Metalcasting Technology Teater located on the show floor. Te Word Foundry Organization also held several sessions as part of its technical forum presented in conjunction with CastExpo’13 and the 117th Metalcasting Congress. At the close of the conference, AFS elected its 2013-2017
class of directors and 2013-2014 officers, including new Presi- dent Dennis Dotson, chairman of Dotson Iron Castings, , Minn., new Vice President Chris Norch, president, Denison Industries, Denison, Texas, and new 2nd Vice President Bruce Dienst, presi- dent and COO, Simpson Technologies Corp., Aurora, Ill. AFS gave awards of Scientific Merit to Scott Giese, associate
professor at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Fred Major, retired research scientist, Rio Tinto Alcan Interna- tional, Kingston, Ontario, and Douglas White, technical services manager, Elkem Materials Inc., Boca Raton, Fla. AFS Service Citations were given to Tomas (Tommy) Horton, technical sales representative, Reich Companies, Trussville, Ala., Leigh Omer, foundry manager, Fresno Valve & Castings Inc., Selma, Calif., and Robert Smillie, president and CEO, RWS Productiv- ity & Quality Solutions LLC, Northville, Mich. Te Michael J. Trezecinski CMI Award was presented to H. Fred Linebarger, Miller and Co. LLC, Rosemont, Ill.
