Hunter’s new flask-filling device uses an array of nozzle assemblies to direct a metal caster’s sand mixture into flasks with better compactibility.

Perpendicular filling avoids the shadow effect caused by side blow filling. Te JetSlinger, invented by Hunter President Bill Hunter, was developed to compensate for mold quality limitations caused by sand flowability and pattern configuration during the high pressure squeeze cycle. During operation, the sand mixture is loaded into the hopper and the hopper gates open. Rotating blades aerate the mixture, which is delivered into the Venturi manifold. Under pressure, the mixture is slung through 20 nozzles into the mold flask, which fills with pre-compaction around the pattern plate.
