coldbox core package casting (also called precision sand casting), which uses coldbox molds to replace the traditional green sand or nobake sand molding line technology. Compared to tradi- tional green sand molding, the modern coldbox core process can provide advantages in investment for fixed assets, raw sand resource use, operation and maintenance, energy savings, envi- ronmental protection and casting quality.


PCP Defined Te coldbox precision core package casting process


(PCP) adopts the coldbox core making process, using a coldbox core shooter to make the molds (or upper, lower, left and right molds), and incorporates core assembly and core setting, mold assembly, and finally, pouring the core package with or without a flask. Tis process is also called preci- sion sand casting (PSC), which is available through Suzhou Mingzhi Technology Co, Ltd., Wujiang, China. PCP is suitable for the production of steel castings, duc-


tile cast iron, alloy gray cast iron pieces, aluminum castings, magnesium castings, etc. It can be used widely in casting production of hydraulic parts, pump shells, gear boxes, pipe fittings, valves, cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. Coldbox core package casting process advantages include:

• Can produce highly complex castings (such as engine cylinder block, cylinder head).


• High precision size (up to level CT8 above). • High casting surface quality.

• Can be a single small batch production or assembly line mass production.
